Our program

More than a team.

Copper Hills Boys Basketball develops student-athletes who compete with purpose, serve their teammates and represent their school and community with pride.

Mission

Develop players.
Build people.
Strengthen Copper Hills.

Our mission is to build a connected, accountable and team-first basketball program. We prepare student-athletes to compete at a high level, accept coaching, support their teammates and carry the Copper Hills standard into the classroom and community.

From freshman basketball through varsity, every team is part of one program. The habits established at each level should prepare players for the next challenge while advancing the program as a whole.

2026–27 Program Standard

Earn it.
Own it.

Built from one clear expectation: earn everything, blame nothing.

“I will earn trust through my work, own my choices and response, and make my teammates better every day.”

How we operate

Six pillars. One program.

The values that guide how Copper Hills Basketball players, coaches and parents prepare, compete and represent the program.

01

Gratitude

We are thankful for talents, gifts and opportunities. We strive to be honest and sincere in all of our interactions and to be individuals of the utmost character and integrity. We value those around us and care about each other, our families, our school and our community. We are grateful for all who support us.

02

Passion

We are enthusiastic and ambitious on the court and in the classroom. We are committed to improvement and development as individuals and as a team. We understand that hard work creates opportunity and that hustle can make up for mistakes. We are intent and resolute in always giving our best effort. We fight through adversity and challenges.

03

Family

We are a family that loves and protects each member—player, coach and parent. We are supportive and engaged members of our individual families, our team, our school and our community. We strive to be leaders and examples to everyone with whom we interact.

04

Consistency

We believe in consistent effort in all things, including our educational effort and athletic endeavors. We are confident and humble, eager to learn, poised, patient and dependable. We always give our best effort and are resourceful in attacking challenges. We understand that perfecting the smallest details makes big things happen.

05

Commitment

We believe in hard work in all aspects of our lives. We take initiative to achieve our goals and exhibit loyalty to our family, friends, team and school. We take pride in our physical, mental and emotional condition. We continuously practice to enhance all of our skills and talents.

06

Unity

We focus on inclusion and togetherness. Communication and cooperation are paramount among players, coaches and parents. We believe in each other and have faith that together we can achieve and accomplish all things. We are adaptable, patient and believe in ‘we before me.’

The way we work

Team. Compete. Respect.

Three expectations shape how we pursue our goals and how we treat the people around us.

01

Team

Putting the team first is paramount. Every person has an integral role to play, and understanding and executing that role is crucial to our success. We embrace our roles and dedicate our energy to doing whatever the team needs to be successful.

02

Competitiveness

We compete with sportsmanship every time we step on the court. We give 100% effort in games, practices, workouts and weightlifting because effort is within our control. Trust, self-confidence and a winning mindset are built through daily work.

03

Respect

Respect is non-negotiable. We show it to teammates, coaches, teachers, parents, friends and everyone we meet. Following team policies, being positive and coachable, arriving on time, playing the right way and always seeking improvement are all ways we demonstrate respect.

Academics

Students first.

Every Copper Hills Basketball student-athlete is held to the highest standards of attending class, arriving on time, learning actively and being a responsible, productive citizen of Copper Hills High School.

3.5Team GPA goal

Players below the team GPA goal are strongly encouraged to rise above it. Coaches will work with student-athletes, parents, teachers, counselors and administrators to identify and remove obstacles to academic success.

Student-athletes with a GPA below 3.0, or a grade of C or lower in any class, will attend mandatory study hall sessions.

  • Every player will understand the importance of his academic career and positive role within the school community.
  • Individual academic goals will be set, and each player's progress will be tracked by the coaching staff.
  • Poor citizenship, behavior, excessive absences or tardiness will not be accepted.
  • Poor academic performance may result in reduced basketball opportunities.

Every level. Every day.

The standard applies to everyone.
